An air conditioner thermostat is a temperature sensitive switch that controls the cooling or the heating of your air conditioning or heating system. When the temperature indoors drops below a specified temperature, or if it rises above the temperature the switch moves to the ‘on’ position and the cooling or heating system switches on to warm or cool the air.

You can find a thermostat in all types of air conditioning units. For example you can find an automotive AC thermostat, an RV air conditioner thermostat or a home central air conditioner thermostat and many more. With an air conditioner thermostat the humidity can be determined and sensed by the system allowing it to turn the system on to remove the humidity from the air. Although thermostats are commonly used in central air conditioning units, you can also find them in split system air conditioners, portable air conditioners, or window air conditioners. An air conditioning thermostat can be extremely useful, as the system will automatically shut off once it reaches a certain level of cooling to save on energy costs, and it will then automatically switch back on before the temperature in the room drops below a certain set temperature. This way the temperature will monitor and keep track of the comfort level in your home.

If you require AC thermostat troubleshooting, such as an air conditioner thermostat calibration, you will want to consider hiring a professional air conditioner operator who will be able to properly reset or fix your thermostat. Because thermostats are rather sensitive it is important that you remember not to fuss with the thermostat too often. By changing the temperature of the thermostat frequently, can cause the thermostat on your air conditioner to stop working properly and could cause problems. If you have several people living in your home, or working in an office, you may want to consider plastic AC thermostat covers, which will protect your thermostat and possibly prevent others from frequently adjusting the temperature on the thermostat.

There are different name brands for thermostats, such as the Carrier air conditioner thermostat, or you can find a Miller AC thermostat wiring on a specific brand name. Typically the thermostat is built in or included in with the air conditioning system and will require a professional to install if you have central air conditioning or a split air conditioning system. Air conditioner thermostats are an extremely useful and almost necessary accessory to air conditioners.
